Thank you so much for supporting the blues. It seems the CD is going the way of the 78, but we still get a kick out of sending out physical product, something that will lay around for a few years and hopefully be discovered again.

Music Maker is still kicking strong. We were all deeply saddened by losing our long time partner artist Algia Mae Hinton on February 8. Her body just gave out, but she made it to 88 and that is something to be proud of.
Algia loved the Blues, I love the Blues, you all love the Blues, so my friend Ardie Dean had the wonderful idea of putting out a set of songs all about the Blues.

You can spend years listening to Music Maker artists–I have. I grew up listening to Brownie & Sonny, B.B. King, Lead Belly and the rest, but for the last 30 years I have been very comfortable in the Music Maker universe. Every once in a while one of our discoveries takes legs such as the Carolina Chocolate Drops or the meteoric rise of Robert Finley who has been recording and touring with the rock star Dan Auerbach.

But for many of our artists, not even the deepest blues purist knows who they are. Yet when I hear them sing about the Blues in this set, they are singing right to me, as if they wrote their song just for me. When they finish, I feel I have gone somewhere, and I have learned something. I am back in my world, refreshed and ready to go. That is what the Blues does at it's best. It makes you feel better, you can go along with your day with a smile on your face.

I hope this is why you all support Music Maker. Helping some of the greatest unknown voices of American music get heard, appreciated and supported.
